「聽這首歌的時候，我會想到妳。」那個謎一樣的人這樣告訴她。

那首歌叫做「The spirit carries on」，由夢劇場樂團（Dream Theater）演唱。後來那個人帶她去聽了夢劇場樂團在台北的演唱會，他們甚至在期中考前一天蹺課去參加簽名會。再後來，他向她介紹了許多搖滾樂團。她從來不是一個搖滾樂迷，也不懂什麼搖滾精神，但是這首歌深深的感動她。

她記得很清楚，那張專輯叫做「一個記憶的場景」（Scenes from a memory）。CD一放進去，時鐘di da di da的聲音貫穿整個音軌，像是心理醫師正在進行催眠，接著低沈的男子說：「閉上你的眼睛，深呼吸。放鬆。再次深呼吸，集中注意於你的呼吸，隨著每次的呼吸你都更加的放鬆，感覺到你的周身是光明溫潤的光圍繞著……10、9、8、7……」

倒數完畢，時鐘聲音消失，吉他刷弦，說故事人以主旋律唱出故事序曲，在整張專輯裡面，你將隨著主角尼可拉斯開始進行一趟自我的追尋之旅，回到前世去認識那個每夜出現在他夢中的女生－維多利亞，在催眠的過程中，尼可拉斯了解到自己就是由這個活在欺騙與謊言並被謀殺的維多利亞所投胎轉世的。

為什麼宗教裡面有輪迴轉世，人為何而活？有什麼是生命中的永恆？

那個人並沒有告訴她答案，他們如同其他人一樣在人生流轉之海中被沖散，如今她卻為了找尋他留下來的問題，彷彿被催眠般向千辛萬苦的朝拜路上走去。在這個剛分手而十分悲傷的聖誕節，想起這首福音般的歌，她努力、努力要勇敢，再次告訴自己：The spirit carries on….
