老歌亂談(1254)Ebony Eyes

此曲為美國吉他手、歌手兼詞曲作者Bob Welch自寫自唱，收錄在他1978的專輯《French Kiss》中，並作為第2首單曲發行，在美國告示牌熱門100排行榜獲得第14名，在加拿大第7、澳洲則為第2名。

Bob Welch出生於演藝世家，父親是派拉蒙影業的製作人兼編劇，母親為歌手及演員。Welch於十歲起學習吉他，後赴巴黎，原擬就讀Sorbonne大學，但基本上都在當地瞎混。之後再返回南加州，在加州大學洛杉磯分校短暫學習法語，但未獲得學位。1964，Welch在加州參加The Seven Souls樂團，因在樂團比賽中失敗，未能獲得與唱片公司簽約。1969，所參與樂團解散後，Welch又赴巴黎，並組三人樂團Head West，而仍未獲得成功。

1971，Bob Welch經同學介紹至英國參加Fleetwood Mac樂隊的試鏡 ( 因該團的吉他手說要出去買一本雜誌，卻一去不回，經幾天的尋找，原來是去加入了一個宗教團體。 )，並成功地加入了樂隊，此時期應是Welch在樂壇最風光的一段。至1974，Welch因婚姻失敗、感覺自己的創造力也已耗盡，及部分團員與他關係有些疏遠，故而選擇退團，之後由Lindsey Buckingham及Stevie Nicks接替了他的位置。

歌曲述說是在個舞會的場合，看到一個坐在角落害羞的女孩，而被她的黑眼珠給迷住了。此曲背後合音的女歌手為Juice Newton，當時尚未出名，而也因此曲替她加掛了一枚勳章。

2012，Bob Welch接受了脊椎手術，但並不成功，醫生告知狀況不會好轉。三個月後，Welch在家舉槍自盡 ( 尊重生命，請撥打1995 )，留給妻子長達9頁的遺書和情書，享年66歲。
