On the Yankees
Every non-Yankee fan seems to assume that players join the Yankees for the fame and fortune. Mark Teixeira is still being booed by the Angel fans. Granderson said that he used to have supportive comments from other teams’ fans, but now, being Yankee, it’s changed “in a fun way.” And Alex has always been the favorite target of over passionate haters (they probably can’t live without him.) Is it that players become ultra-mean villains oozing thick black poisonous smog as soon as they don their pinstripes? Nothing can promise that they have good intentions or flawless characters, yet likewise, no one can say they’re boo-worthy. To me, our club is just full of golden sunshine (especially when they’re winning.) Jeter can easily be the classiest sportsman I’ve ever seen. Robbie has the widest grin and Swish is definitely one of the coolest (his World Series headstand is the best.) CC is ace while AJ is evil and has the best pies. We have the most reliable in Andy, Jorge and Mo, as well as the most exciting in youngsters like Hughes and Cervelli and much, much more. Who wouldn’t just love this? Besides, to play alongside powers like Jeter, Robbie, Alex and Mark, to be a part of a great, well-rounded defense, to receive advices from the Old Guards and sometimes Yogi or Reggie is no doubt the best working/learning environment a Major League baseball player can have. Adding on to all that is being in a beautiful state of
I know that we have guys not being their usual self now. It can be a really hard game outside, I imagine. Ken Singleton once said, “When you’re slumping, it’s like there are fifteen fielders and they all have gloves on both hands.” And the fans can be very stern on ones of their own, just like Bald Vinny said, “Every Yankee fan has a panic button.” I guess I’m more of an emotional fan, so to me, I love every one of them, and I worry about slumps because they don’t get to enjoy the game and enjoy their best selves.(Silly, yeah, but still.) I have a few names on my mind now and I’ll be constantly looking for them in the games. All in all, I just hope that everyone can be as smooth and consistent as our captain.
Cosmos bless all Yankees.
