去過美國在台協會辦過簽證的人，一定對那裡的簽證官員印象深刻。中文好，幽默感也是一流的。
於是就發生了以下這段對話：
我：「Hello! I am applying for my F-1 Visa extension.」
官員：「Oh! You are going to Michigan State U. I can’t let you go.」
當然知道簽證官是在開玩笑的，或許他以前的學校曾經輸過ｍｓｕ，所以我也就索性ｐｌａｙ ａｌｏｎｇ。
我：「Ya! I am going to MSU, but their football team really sucks!」
官員：「That’s more like it. 」
心知策略奏效，我趕緊追上一句「ya! They just lost to Illinois this past weekend...」
官員：「I think your coach will be fired soon. Any way, good luck with your trip!」
就這樣驚險過關！
