You Conjured My Boundless Loneliness

.

.

You conjured my boundless loneliness;

the silent string mourns on the empty harp.

The sands move away from the shore;

Parts of me disappear with the waves.

The trees give no sighs

yet the wind weeps.

The seagulls in the sunset find nothing

but the broken shells on the pier.

Many a night we sang

under the soft moonlight;

the breeze was sweet and enchanting

Love was carved where only we knew.

Summers and winters were

All too short.

Dreams faded

without a sound

Happiness hollowed

As did love.

I wondered on the worn streets

Saw only nameless shadows.

The night has fallen

Where should I bury my loneliness

Under the heavy slate blue sky?
